About Us - The Constitution of Chichester Olympic Gymnastic Club

Name:

· The Club shall be called Chichester Olympic Gymnastic Club, hereinafter referred to as The Club, or abbreviated to C.O.G.C.

 

The Club:

· The Club shall at all times be affiliated to the British Gymnastics Association.

· The Club shall be affiliated to both the Region and County Associations.

· The Club must at all times have a minimum of 1 coach at Club Coach level as designated by British Gymnastics.

· The Club must abide by the rules governing gymnastics as set out by British Gymnastics.

 

Aims & Objectives:

· The aims of The Club are to foster and promote the sport of gymnastics and provide opportunities equal to all in recreational and competitive gymnastics.

· The Club shall do its best to provide equipment, facilities and training for all its members.

· The Club shall periodically arrange competitions for squad gymnasts, both junior and senior, and publicise the sport of gymnastics through displays.

· The recreational gymnasts will feed into the Squad as appropriate to encourage the development of ability.

 

Membership:

· Membership is open to any child of any ability, offering equal opportunities to all children in the local community.

· A waiting list shall be current and reviewed by the Head Coach & Club Secretary.

· There shall be three classes of membership:

1.              Adult Gymnast

2.              Squad Gymnast

3.              Recreational Gymnast

 

Trustees:

· The Club shall be under the ownership of the Club Secretary (Darryl Wulff) & Head Coach (Clare Wulff), and supported by their coaches and committee.

· Anyone with any disagreement or grievance with The Club shall report this to the nominated representative.

 

Meetings:

· An Annual General Meeting will occur and the date for this will appear on The Club notice board at least one month prior to the date of the meeting.

· The A.G.M. agenda will be posted on the notice board at least two weeks prior to the date of the meeting.

· No motion which is not on the agenda, other than formal motions of congratulations and appreciation or condolences shall be in order at the meeting except as provided below.

· The A.G.M. shall receive a report from the Chairperson and a statement of accounts from the Treasurer.  Both the report and accounts shall be open to questions and any motion referring to any item in either shall be in order and they shall be voted on.

· All motions for the agenda shall reach the Secretary not later than three weeks prior to the date of the meeting and shall be in writing.

· Coaches committee meetings shall take place every six weeks, with any relevant information being published on the notice board.

· Parent fund-raising committee meetings shall take place every six weeks, with any relevant activities and updates being published on the notice board.

 

Voting:

· All members (and parents / guardians acting on behalf of members), and Honorary members shall have one vote at a General meeting for all purposes.

· Voting shall be by a show of hands unless the Chairperson shall direct, or one third of the members present shall demand, a ballot.

· NB: Apart from coaches, no committee member shall have any involvement with matters of coaching.

 

Officers Of The Committee:

· The officers of The Club shall be elected by members at the A.G.M. and will serve for a period of one year.  The President of The Club will remain a life member.

The Committee:

· The committee shall manage the affairs of The Club according to the constitution and the resolutions of the General meetings.

· The committee shall consist of the elected officers, the senior coaches and up to five ordinary committee members duly elected from within The Club at the A.G.M.

· The committee shall have the power to co-opt and appoint temporary officers and committee members to bring the committee up to full strength between Annual General Meetings.

· The committee shall appoint an auditor.

· The committee shall have the power to co-opt and appoint sub-committees.  A member of the full committee to be included in the sub-committee and be required to submit a report to the meetings of the full committee.  Such committees may, with the approval of the full committee, open a bank account for fund-raising in the name of that sub-committee.  The account must have two signatories of which one must be the full committee member.  The full committee are to have access to all financial aspects.

· The committee shall meet at least three times a year.

· The committee shall have the power to decide any matter not covered by the constitution and the rules of The Club.

· A quorum shall be two thirds or five members of the committee, whichever is lower, and must include at least one officer.

 

Club Secretary:

· The Club Secretary shall review the remuneration of the coaches as necessary.

· The Club Secretary is responsible for ensuring that gymnasts and staff are covered by appropriate insurance.

 

New Rules, Amendments To Rules, And Motions For Dissolution:

· Any motion for a new rule or an amendment to the existing rules or for the dissolution of The Club shall require to be carried by the majority of two thirds of those present and voting at a General Meeting.

 

Finance:

· The auditor shall receive the accounts from the Honorary Treasurer on request.

· The financial year shall begin on 1st April and end on 31st March.

· The committee shall have the power to open accounts in the name of The Club, with any bank or building society and all documents, including cheques relating to the said accounts shall only be authorized if signed by the Honorary Treasurer and one other officer of The Club.

· The Honorary Treasurer shall receive all subscriptions due and monies payable to The Club, and pay out all accounts on behalf of The Club.

· In the event of The Club being wound up, any property belonging to The Club shall be sold and the proceeds placed in a trust set up for the furtherance of local gymnastics or placed in storage in a local establishment until such time as a new club can be formed in the local area.

 

Interpretation Of The Rules And Constitution:

· The Chairperson shall have the power to settle all points of interpretation arising from this constitution, provided that such power shall not override any subsequent resolution duly passed by a General meeting concerning such interpretation.

 

ALL MEMBERS SHALL BE BOUND BY THE RULES, BY-LAWS AND REGULATIONS OF CHICHESTER OLYMPIC GYMNASTIC CLUB.
